Loden-Ein Stoff mit Geschichte. Für Babys von morgen

Loden—A fabric with history. For the babies of tomorrow

In an industry dominated by synthetic materials, we make a statement – with a fabric that has protected, warmed, and breathed for centuries: genuine loden made from 100% Merino wool. As the only brand in the baby industry to rely on genuine loden, we carry not only responsibility but also knowledge and artisanal tradition forward. From selecting the finest Merino wool fibers to refining the finished cloth, the entire manufacturing process is in the hands of our experienced suppliers. We work exclusively with partners who uphold the highest standards, ensuring that every meter of loden meets our quality requirements.

What is truly good for babies – and at the same time good for our environment? This question was the starting point of Oh!Possum – and it still guides us today.

Certified

We didn’t find the answer in high-tech materials, but in a fabric that has protected, warmed, and breathed for centuries: genuine, fulled loden made from 100% Merino wool. Rarely found in the baby industry, yet perfectly suited for the little ones: temperature-regulating, water-repellent, durable, and soft. For our products, we use only mulesing-free wool, tested according to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and refined in true artisanal tradition – for a high-quality, durable, and responsibly made companion for life with children and beyond.

From Fibre to Fabric

How Loden is Made

Its secret lies in an elaborate manufacturing process that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology:

Step N° 1

Dyeing

The selection of finest wool fibers and precise dyeing according to a secret recipe ensure the characteristic color variety of our loden, preserved and archived across generations.

Step N° 2

Spinning

From the dyed fibers, a fine, voluminous worsted yarn is spun – ideal for fulled wool fabrics like loden. The yarn is then inspected and cleaned to ensure uniform processing during weaving.

Step N° 3

Warping

During warping, up to 4500 wool threads are wound onto a drum and bundled into the warp. This is transferred to the warp beam and further processed in the weaving mill.

Step N° 4

Weaving

Warp and weft threads are woven into fine merino fabric – up to 230 cm wide, as the fabric shrinks during fulling. Each meter is carefully inspected before finishing to guarantee the highest quality.

Step N° 5

Fulling

During fulling, the loden shrinks by up to 30% and gains its dense, soft structure. The original weave becomes almost invisible – a feature of genuine worsted yarn quality with unmistakably luxurious texture.

Step N° 6

Finish

Several finishing steps give the loden its unique
Shine and feel. Crystal-clear Alpine water ensures special softness. Some fabrics are still gently napped with natural thistles – a process almost unrivaled in the textile industry.
