The mattress of our baby nest is made of natural, breathable coconut fibres and natural latex. The natural fibres promote a healthy sleeping climate and support the healthy development of the spine.

We do not use any petrochemically produced synthetic latex. Instead, we rely on a natural alternative that is extracted from the milky sap of tropical rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis) in a complex process. The fibres from the outer shell of the coconut are mixed with natural latex milk, pressed into mats and vulcanised in heat chambers. The resulting coconut latex is permanently firm-elastic, abrasion-resistant, air-permeable, moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable and durable - in short, it has the ideal properties for a mattress core. In addition, it optimally supports the development of the spine in the first months of life.

Wood

To stabilise the base and the side walls, we use elements made of local native poplar, which is cut to size and sanded by hand in our carpentry workshop. Here, too, we completely dispense with plastic.

The native poplar we use comes from the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. The poplar is a fast-growing native deciduous tree whose wood is ideally suited for stabilisation due to its lightness and simultaneous stability. We use this high-quality local material untreated, the pure natural wood is sanded smooth by hand. We do not add any oils or toxins so that no harmful or allergenic substances come near your child.

Organic Cotton

We use certified, fairly traded organic cotton for the lying surface and in the direct contact area. This way we avoid that the raw material contains residues of pesticides or chemical fertilisers. In Swabia, this is woven into a particularly soft fabric on which your baby can lie especially gently.

Cotton is rightly one of the best-known and most widespread natural materials. It meets the highest standards of comfort and hygiene, and is also extremely hard-wearing. Cotton is very absorbent and can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp. In addition, cotton fabrics nestle comfortably against the skin, are soft and smooth. To ensure that no pesticides, chemical fertilisers or genetically modified seeds are used in the production process, we use 100% certified organic cotton to minimise any negative impact on the environment and ensure fair production conditions.

Organic virgin sheep's wool

Virgin sheep's wool is the perfect filling material for our baby nest: In summer it cools, in winter it provides cosy warmth. At the same time, it is air-permeable and prevents heat build-up. Our wool comes from controlled organic animal husbandry and is processed into a soft fleece of virgin sheep's wool in Dinkelsbühl.

Sheep's wool is breathable, versatile and sustainable. And that is why we love it. It is a natural product that brings a multitude of benefits without any chemical treatment: it is antibacterial, water-repellent, breathable, insulating, temperature-balancing and durable. To ensure the welfare of the sheep from which our favourite material comes, we only use wool certified as cruelty-free and guarantee that our wool is certified as mulesing-free.
